ASEAN Specialised Meteorological Centre

The ASEAN Specialised Meteorological Centre (ASMC) was established in January 1993 as a regional collaboration programme among the National Meteorological Services (NMSs) of ASEAN Member States. ASMC is hosted under Meteorological Service Singapore, National Environment Agency of Singapore.

The ASMC is the designated body to monitor and assess land and forest fires and the occurrence of transboundary smoke haze affecting the ASEAN region.

The main roles of ASMC are to monitor and assess land and forest fires, as well as the occurrence of transboundary smoke haze for the ASEAN region; and to conduct seasonal and climate predictions for the ASEAN region;

Through its website and communication with ASEAN Member States and the ASEAN Secretariat as the Interim ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Transboundary Haze Pollution, ASMC provides monthly weather and haze outlook, satellite images, hotspot information, air quality information, and fire danger rating.
