Several monitoring systems including early warning system have been developed within ASEAN region in relation to peat/land forest fire and transboundary haze issues to provide information such as hotspot, weather forecast and fire risk.
ASEAN Specialised Meteorological Centre (ASMC) provides comprehensive information to fire and haze warning and monitoring. In AMS that currently do not have a forest fire information system such as (Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Myanmar), ASMC helps countries engage in regional collaboration.
Other sources of information that have regional coverage include Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) Indonesia, Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia), Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), and Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) Thailand.
Join our discussion and explore more on the use of monitoring system, their design, implementation, and effectiveness, and their role in risk reduction and climate resilience. Share your knowledge, experiences, and insights related to monitoring system, fostering a better understanding of how these systems play a crucial role in safeguarding communities and ecosystems across Southeast Asia.
