Regional Approach to Peatland Conservation in Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia, home to over 60% of the world's tropical peatlands, is guided by the ASEAN Peatland Management Strategy (APMS) 2006-2020. The ASEAN Peatland Forests Project (APFP) and SEapeat projects collaborated from 2010 to 2015 to protect and restore peatlands through information sharing, joint training, workshops, and peer learning programs. These projects involved government institutions, the private sector, and local communities in joint peat surveys, regional peer-to-peer learning programs, training, policy development, and rehabilitation efforts with public-private partnerships.
